This stereo can play standard audio CDs and also has a 3.5mm aux input jack on the faceplate for patching in the audio from an MP3 player or any other audio source. It can also control and recharge an iPod when connected via a JIPDCBL cable (sold separately) which connects to the back of the stereo.

This unit is a marine stereo because it has plasticoted circuit boards to protect against corrosion in a humid and/or salt air environment and also is made of UV resistant materials. It is not completely waterproof, however so if you think it will get splashed or rained on you should use the included cover to protect it.

Nice unit, price is right. The only complaint I have is that the brightness of the display cannot be adjusted.

Other than the display (you need to have the unit facing you directly) this is a great unit, I have it in my electronics box and it never skips!! The Ipod controls are great and function flawlessly!!!

The iPod interface sucks; you can't even play music in "shuffle" mode; the iPod controls are so awful that the only practical way to select music is to disconnect the iPod - use the iPod to play music - and then reconnect the iPod to the radio. After that the stupid radio always plays music in alphabetical artist order following the artist being played -- even if you tried to make it shuffle the titles.
